Cat
The Creative Inspiration for the Cat Watercolor Painting
I painted this cat because I’m always moved by the way my home cat looks when it wakes up in the morning. As soon as the sky brightens, it slips to the windowsill covered with ivy. First, it raises its tail high, then arches its back and stretches out its paws, slowly stretching its body. The sunlight filters through the ivy leaves and falls on its striped fur, making it look fluffy, and even the air seems to be softened.
I wanted to use watercolor to capture this lazy yet vivid charm. I chose transparent tones to give the ivy a watery green, as if you could smell the moist west from the leaves. The cat’s stripes weren’t painted rigidly either; following its stretching posture, I used blended brushstrokes to show the fluffiness of its fur. The whole picture creates a quiet and lovely mood by the window in the early morning, where the cat and the green plants depend on each other, and time flows slowly, just like wanting to seal every morning healed by the kitten in the painting.
