Lion
The Creative Inspiration for the Lion Painting
In 2020, I saw a lion on the African savannah in a documentary. When the camera focused on a lion, it stood tall in the sunset, its mane dyed golden – red, and its eyes were sharp yet carried a royal calmness. At that moment, I was deeply shocked.
I wanted to capture the feeling of the blend of power and majesty. So I chose soft and layered colors to show the fluffiness and luster of the mane under the light and shadow, making every strand of hair seem to carry the wind of the savannah. The lion’s eyes were the key; I needed to paint the bearing of being calm after going through hardships, as if it could see through the dawn and dusk and the years of the savannah.
